Job Role Tree Seed Production Supervisor

Farm Solutions are recruiting on behalf of our client for this role. The client supplies tree and shrub seed to nurseries, and operations in Ireland are increasing, creating the need for a person to facilitate this expansion. The Production Supervisor will play a key role in managing tree seed operations throughout Ireland. This includes assessing and preparing collection sites in coordination with seed collectors and landowners, ensuring access and equipment are in place, and complying with seed related legislation and H&S systems. The role involves regular liaison with the UK-based team, seed collectors, customers and landowners to ensure seamless execution of seed collection, processing and dispatch. Additionally, the Supervisor will assist with processing orders, verifying documentation, and working closely with logistics providers to ensure timely and accurate deliveries. Comprehensive training will be provided in England, with the role primarily based in Ireland.

The Role

Key Responsibilities

Site Evaluation & Field Operations

  • Work with existing collectors to visit and evaluate collection sites and determine their suitability for seed collection in the current season.
  • Travel throughout Ireland to find potential new collection sites for a range of species.
  • Contact landowners to obtain permission to collect.
  • Notify authorities to comply with legislation.
  • Ensure suitable vehicles and equipment are available to facilitate effective collections.
  • Support the organisation and setup of on-site activities, including equipment checks and team coordination.
  • Conduct and contribute to dynamic risk assessments.
  • Assist with hands-on field tasks.
  • Collect seed and provide supervision to teams when necessary.
  • Process collections in a timely manner.

Customer Engagement

  • Act as a primary point of contact for customers and landowners, ensuring their expectations are clearly understood and met.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships through clear, professional and proactive communication.

Processing & Logistics

  • Process customer orders, ensuring all relevant documentation is accurate and complete.
  • Liaise with logistics providers to coordinate timely and accurate deliveries.
  • Receive and inspect seed deliveries from collectors and overseas suppliers, ensuring proper documentation is present or completed.
  • Ensure seed is processed and stored correctly and samples are taken for testing.
  • Maintain accurate records of goods in/out and report any issues affecting stock or delivery timelines.

Operational & Team Support

  • Support day-to-day operations, ensuring alignment with expectations and internal goals
  • Assist in maintaining vehicles, tools, and equipment in safe, working condition
  • Record daily activity, including timekeeping, site data, and customer feedback
  • Escalate safety issues, logistical delays, or customer concerns to the appropriate line manager

Working Conditions

  • Regular travel throughout Ireland with occasional travel to England for training or coordination
  • Outdoor work in varied weather conditions and terrain
  • Manual handling and physical tasks, including lifting, walking, and use of equipment
  • Some overnight stays or extended periods away from base during peak activity
  • Seasonal workload with periods of high demand and operational intensity
  • Full UK/Irish driving licence (required)

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience in customer-facing roles or operational fieldwork is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a proactive, professional approach to relationship management.
  • Well organised with strong time management and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in remote locations and managing site logistics.
  • Familiarity with basic order documentation and logistics coordination.
  • Full UK/Irish driving licence (required).
