An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and driven farm manager to lead the transformation of a developing farm in South Wicklow. This dry hill farm, currently undergoing expansion, is set to evolve into a high-performing, sustainable commercial beef enterprise over the coming years. | The Farm | This farm in the South Wicklow area is in expansionary mode with new areas of the farm due to come under the remit of the new farm manager over the next 1- 4 years. It is a dry hill farm some of which has recently been in tillage. It is envisaged that within 2 years there will be a working platform in excess of 200 acres. This block is in the one area though there are some public roads between the parcels .The medium term objective is to establish a top notch suckler herd with a view to turning this into a profitable, sustainable and easily managed commercial beef farming operation. |
| The Role | We are seeking an experienced person capable of steering this ambitious project over the next few years. The focus will be on successfully establishing the herd along agreed guidelines . A major responsibility will be the laying out the farm infrastructure with a view to comfortably accommodating projected stock numbers as the farm develops. |
| The Applicant | A successful applicant will have proven experience of managing a suckler farm. Familiarity with ICBF herd metrics and a record of achievement of same will be favourably considered. Ideally some experience of tillage operations could also be demonstrated as in the transition period and perhaps even beyond there may be a role for tillage crops in the farm rotation. |
| Accommodation | There are a number of options for accommodation local to the farm .These can be explored once a successful candidate has proved his/her suitability for the role. At that point the value of the accommodation can be factored into the overall remuneration package. |
