Assistant Herdsperson – Dairy

Located in the heart of County Meath, our farm is home to a high-yielding, spring-calving herd of approximately 400 dairy cows. The farm is well-equipped with modern infrastructure, including a high-spec milking parlour, automated feeding systems, and comfortable housing facilities for both cows and calves. We place a strong emphasis on animal health, milk quality, and sustainable farming practices, ensuring a safe, efficient, and productive working environment.

The Dairy Farm Assistant will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, including:

• Milking in a modern, high-capacity parlour
• Monitoring cow health and reporting any concerns promptly
• Feeding and bedding livestock using machinery
• Calf rearing and assisting with calving during busy periods
• General farmyard duties, such as cleaning, fencing, and machinery upkeep

The role requires flexibility, a strong work ethic, and the ability to follow structured routines while adapting to the demands of the season.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable individual with:

• At least one year’s experience in dairy farming, including milking
• A good understanding of animal health and welfare
• Experience operating tractors and machinery (advantageous but not essential)
• Strong timekeeping and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• A proactive attitude and a willingness to learn and grow in the role
