We are recruiting for one of Ireland’s largest private forestry management companies, seeking motivated Forestry Operatives to join their team. This is a hands-on role, focused on managing and maintaining forests and woodland areas to the highest standards.
Forestry Operatives play a key part in day-to-day operations, working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. The role involves physically demanding tasks and manual labour, supporting activities such as planting, and general forest maintenance. Safety, teamwork, and attention to detail are central to the position, as operatives contribute directly to the sustainable management of Ireland’s forest resources. This role offers €13.50 per hour.

Forestry Operatives Needed Nationwide

The Role

This is a hands-on, outdoor role with one of Ireland’s largest private forestry management companies. As a Forestry Operative, you will help manage and maintain forests and woodland areas to the highest standards.

The position involves physically demanding tasks and manual labour such as tree planting, weeding, and general forest maintenance, while adhering to strict safety standards. You will work closely with Forest Technicians and Regional Foresters, playing an important part in the sustainable management of Ireland’s forest resources.

Key duties include:

  • Assisting Forest Technicians and Regional Foresters in day-to-day forestry operations.
  • Preparing sites and planting trees according to forestry plans.
  • Conducting maintenance tasks such as weeding and pest/disease monitoring.
  • Loading, unloading, and maintaining forestry equipment and materials.
  • Supporting stock checks and keeping accurate records.
  • Following health and safety protocols and forestry best practices.
  • Supporting recruitment and induction training where required.
  • Performing other duties or projects as assigned by the Managing Director.

You will report to both the Regional Forester and the Managing Director.

The Applicant

The ideal candidate will be motivated, reliable, and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.

Essential requirements:

  • Knowledge of forestry techniques, equipment, and safety procedures.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic IT proficiency (Microsoft Office 365).
  • Excellent organisational and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Full clean driving licence.
  • Eligibility to work in Ireland.

Desirable attributes:

  • Basic understanding of ecology.
  • Previous forestry or land-based experience.
